Living in a semi rural area, the private entities aren’t any more or less accessible than USPS, the customer service is better, the private entities offer both cheaper and higher end products, and they don’t destroy your package as often, and when they do, their insured package policy pays out quicker and better, they aren’t a burden on taxpayers, they sure as hell aren’t a burden on taxpayers when they have to pay out insured package claims because the lazy, good for nothing govworkers bustedit

No, they keep eachother competitive. If they’re already cheaper than USPS as is, despite not getting a bottomless budget from the government, USPS does not do anything but dilute the sector preventing another private company like DHL from adding more competition. Another private company would lock in at the lower price point and kill the more expensive competition. The whole point of capitalism is that the cheapest and best products will always survive. The government isn’t the cheapest or the best. It relies on taxpayer funding to survive (socialist policy). There’s a reason we don’t support socialist policies- they suck. If you think USPS is bad, the government run health insurance brands (outside of TRICARE) are also horrific.

The end point of unabated capitalism is monopolies which allow companies to charge whatever prices they want. This is why prices increase more frequently than wages. The goal of the usps is to provide mail. The goal of private delivery services is to make a profit. If there’s no incentive to provide good service ultimately good service won’t be provided. Good service is what private companies have over the usps but if there was no usps private companies only have to compete with each other.

This in turn allows for that good service to go from being incentivized to being a potential cost to cut in order to improve profit margins. Ultimately social services such as the USPS, Libraries, Police and Fire departments as well as city, county, and state municipalities are all essential costs of taxes. They are what make the country run. Private businesses are a bonus but are in incentivized to be more efficient and have standards due to the existence of government programs.

Amazon uses exploitative working conditions and the other two usually hand off to USPS anyways as the local carrier LOL. And it sets the baseline so private carriers either need to beat the price or are forced to have better service. The other carriers are both cheaper, and better. As for privatized healthcare, it was, and still is better than the government alternatives. Prior to Obamacare, most career jobs in the US offered free healthcare with no deductible. Obamacare has such awful coverage, that they had to make laws nerfing other plans to make Obamacare competitive. They literally made the market worse. Say you don’t know what Obamacare is without saying you don’t know what Obamacare is! 😂 ACA banned pre-existing condition exclusions and created subsidized marketplaces. It actually lowered out-of-pocket costs and premiums for low-to-middle-income buyers through tax credits. Only when state legislators (like TN) refused the Fed subsidies and finally when those subsidies were allowed to expire (thanks GOP), that is when we saw costs, premiums, and deductibles rise significantly.

No, socialism is a purely selfless concept that doesn’t consider human behavior. Socialism is based on collectivism and equality. All people in society own the factors of production collectively, contribute to production equally, and all rewards are distributed equally among society. It is a classless system with the primary goal being economic equity. Unfortunately, people are unethical, driven by power and greed so equity is never achieved.

We literally practice it here. The concept of socialism is already applied to roads, police officers, firefighters, etc. where tax payers fund them, and they are of free use to the community. A fully socialist society would extend this principle to all needs, such as food, water, healthcare, basic shelter, and potentially childcare. Otherwise, everyone is free to chase their own wealth and possessions, they simply have their needs met, and their ceiling capped to ensure they cannot horde.

Everyone pays taxes to ensure that every person has their bare minimum, basic needs met (you would pay less taxes under this actually, most of the funding would come from the ultra wealthy) and in exchange, you get to live in a society where crime is essentially gone due to a lack of desperation driven by poverty, and the population is happier, healthier, and more educated. The only “trade off” is that you can’t horde more money than you could possibly hope to spend in a lifetime.
