Shonen, shojo, seinen and josei shouldn’t be considered male or female. the ones that are considered for women are literally just romance anime’s 90% of the time. i just want a strong female lead who isn’t perfect…i just want a girl to save the day.
I’m convinced that people who think there are no we’ll written female characters in anime only watch shounen

as a girl who grew up loving superheroes, all of it i, i always wondered why the men were popular, has the fanfics written about them, has everyone in a fanatic, men and women. it just made me sad because i want a woman to save the day, and not have woman as an OP character the main character beats at some point and now she’s nothing. sadly, most girls don’t like superheroes or action based things. the only character who i think of is mikasa ackerman, i love her so much. we need more strong

i just want female leads to be appreciated as much as male leads would, as in super popular from the top 10 anime’s.

That great you think an entire culture’s method of organizing media is wrong and should be changed towards your personal beliefs and desires, but the world doesn’t work that way.

Hey just wanted to recommend Frieren to you. As a guy who loves strong women characters she’s probably my favorite girl character of all time and it’s on Netflix but also side note Noelle from Black Clover is amazing but not the mc. Also Tower of God on webtoon has a plethora of awesome strong female characters and still male mc but I can’t spoil it’s just amazing.

strong female main characters who save the day, who are actually popular and get people talking. all the girl characters are always sexualized or just support the main character. i’m sick and tired of men being the hero.

as a man you won’t understand. you guys are always the chosen one, the one who saves the day, the one who gets everything about them and women aren’t see like that. we help with the journey and nurture and i’m sick of that. i want to the woman to save the day, to be the chosen one.

Light novel series Extremely strong female leads Literally so strong that one of the female leads was cut from most character popularity polls for being too popular and she’s not even the most girlboss character in the series

see me not knowing that is a problem, it should be known and shouldn’t be cut. i bet if it was gojo or naruto they wouldn’t be shut down that quick…and thats the issue.

It’s literally the best selling light novel of all time if u don’t count digital sales Just had a really shitty anime adaptation so didn’t really blow up in the west I recommend sticking with the LN for a while (at least first 3 volumes) but if u want to cut to the girl boss stuff u can just read the manga ”a certain scientific railgun” manga

Naw anime fans just don’t wanna read books most of the time 😔 Makes it kinda hard for a light novel series to take off especially when the anime cuts entire halves of volumes for time

Yeah that’s why we have railgun Or if u prefer crazy girls doin crime u have item Or if u prefer lesbians u have astral buddy Or if u prefer crazy lesbians u have mental out The toaru series has enough spinoffs for every type of female lead Most of them just require reading up to New Testament 9 to fully appreciate

Well if women actually supported anime like men did then maybe we’d see that but until that actually happens I think it’s a good idea to start thinking w a bit more reality in mind right?

When a part of a culture is sexualizing and objectifying women and little girls it deserves to be called out. There’s a reason there aren’t many strong female leads and it’s 100% because of sexism. Just period end of sentence. You can’t hide behind “culture” when it’s objectively harmful in nature it’s gonna get criticized

I am a girl and I also love superhero’s and action and bloody stuff, but I don’t mind that there aren’t a lot of women MCs who are well written because I think being a supporting character is cool and usually the MC can’t succeed without the supports. I get what you mean about our gender being misrepresented. I think that I’m just chill with any MC as long as they are written well

i do love my side characters! the MC always need supporting characters but girls are always support and never are the main, that’s what i don’t really like. we can never be the hero. nobody sees the side characters as the hero unfortunately. you see batman, you don’t see robin.

ok so that’s part of a tradition within the culture, not having ANYTHING to do with the categories of “Shonen” “shojo” “seinen” and “josei” completely different thing to go off ab y’all need to learn how to express yourselves better bc that’s valid

even then, the categories are just magazine marketing labels, not prescriptive genres. plenty of japanese people seek out works that aren’t advertised to them, and the stories themselves break demographic boundaries as well. women are literally the reason the gundam franchise didn’t fold, and you can find female lead pov romance in seinen magazines. you kinda just created a strawman to act smug about, the original post had a reasonable point
