As a guy, I'm having a contrasting issue. I'm not going around sexually harassing or objectifying women, but I do really like being sexual, and it's hard for me to express that part of myself because I'm worried I'll make someone uncomfy. Any advice?

Have enough self awareness to know if it’s appropriate or not. And the awareness to know if you’ve ruined the mood or vibe by making said jokes. I’m a woman who makes a lot of sex jokes and idc if others I know well do too, if you’re seriously worried about it you can just ask. Most people will tell you outright how they feel either way. But, if you can’t tell what’s obviously over the line with sex jokes and the like, don’t do it fr

Why not just treat them and get to know them like and as human beings?

My friends and I are super open about sexuality. You just have to find people who are comfortable expressing themselves that way. Try and figure out the line as well. But most women would find that uncomfortable, especially if you don’t know each other well.

I'm doing that, of course. I have plenty of girl friends who I enjoy talking to and hanging out with outside of that context, and that's why I asked this. I want to be able to make jokes and talk about sex because I don't want to make them uncomfortable.

You know you can’t force your way to it unless you’re a sociopath. It’s going to happen if and when it happens.

I do know though? I think I worded my previous reply poorly, that's my mistake. I'm trying to say that I want to be able to talk about that in a way that won't be making my friends think I want to fuck.

In that case, you got to learn the art of double meaning and how to make a joke that’s harmless and makes someone laugh. And double meaning is not just for a way for only sexual innuendo. It’s banter that works for any topic or situation.

I’m think part of it is like a “that’s what she said” joke vs a pointed joke at someone on the group revolving around sex. Sex jokes can be funny, but often shift into uncomfortable when directly pointed at someone who doesn’t like them

Yeah innuendo has to be broad and works for men and women. But that’s the same in any context. Broad innuendo humor is more engaging and interesting than pointed innuendo

I do worry that it'd be interpreted the wrong way.

Think of it this way. If it can be applied to everyone in the setting, it’s probably fine/funny. If you’re singling out one person or a small group, sometimes people interpret that as being targeted and can make things weird. If you’re suuuuuper worried, just ask your friends if they’re comfortable with it. It’s always better to be safe than sorry

If I were you, I wouldn’t stress about it. You don’t need to do sexual innuendo jokes. But if you really want to, you gotta embrace taking the hits and making others uncomfortable to be comfortable on your own. There’s a comedian Craig Ferguson who was a god at sexual innuendo jokes.

Yeah. I think to an extent I have some form of guilt for being a guy who wants to engage with that hypersexual side of myself. Probably doesn't help with the social anxiety when it comes to this.

I mean there’s nothing inherently wrong with being hyper sexual. Obviously whatever you and your partner do as long as it’s safe, sane and consensual is what matters. But you can also read up on the history of kink because people have always been this way. There’s some parts of ourselves that we don’t discuss in public because it’s not tasteful. This is just another one of those.

Ooh, yes! I will do that. Thanks! As for your first thing, I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like it's something I do have to keep in mind because of how dangerous guys can be. Like it'd be inconsiderate if I wasn't keeping in mind what other people have to go through.

I think knowing how woman can feel about sexual jokes is so important and something that is often overlooked. You asking how you can make those jokes without hurting those around you is a very good sign that you understand what these women go through. And it really depends person to person and it depends on the joke you’re making. It sounds like you’re aware enough to determine if it’s appropriate or not, but, especially with social anxiety I have it too, you can ALWAYS ask your friends if-

Oh no I completely understand and it’s absolutely appreciated. There’s absolutely some danger in sexual situations- that’s why I’m so big on communicating before, during and after.

They’re comfortable with those types of jokes, just be clear that you want them to be comfortable and that you don’t want to insinuate anything AT ALL.

Reasonably, I know I should do this, practically, I'm a scaredy cat. But thanks! I really do appreciate getting your opinion on this (you too strawberry hair tysm) And as a side note, it's very refreshing to have an interaction where people are trying to understand each other on this app.

Trust, I’m also a huge scaredy cat lmao. But I’ve also been on the opposite side of a similar scenario and it really wasn’t a big deal to me. It’s ALWAYS better to ask than assume, and most women just want to know your intentions. If you talk to them first and then you make an inappropriate joke, they’re more likely to come to you to tell you because they know that wasn’t your intention. And more women like sex jokes than people realize, especially when they don’t come from someone who’s trying-
