What if, and hear me out, we stop teaching violence in the first place. Prevention is the best protection type thing. By making a huge deal out of it youd just end up teaching people that violence against women is something they can do (similar to how anti drug PSAs usually just end up pushing people to do drugs)
My idea is that schools can serve as a counter balance. And I’m not sure that we can solve the problem of violence against women by not talking about it. And also, lots of people don’t engage in violence themselves but don’t actively do something to stop it. My idea is that anti violence is something that is not just not being violence and actively working to dismantle a system of violence.
I don’t think addressing the violence head on is gonna have as much impact as you think it will. No men see themselves as violent, and 99.99% of situations happen in private. Situational awareness and empathy is much likely to go wayyy further. That said, teaching someone how to be empathetic is a challenge all on its own. Also, when you raise men to be hyper aware of how they behave around women, men are less likely to approach them; and often feel less comfortable taking the lead.
