I write mainly varieties of horror and romance, but I have done gothic, scifi, and urban fantasy too! In terms of process, the main first step is finishing your book. Them revisions, editing (self or professional, depending on how confident you are in your grammar etc). Then you have to narrow down whether you want to start querying agents, or self publish. Once you do that, it kind of splits into two very different paths. I can talk about either or both, depending on where your interest lies!
