You are absolutely right. OP of the other post is the same person who said people who read Haunting Adeline want to be raped. So yeah, let’s not start saying that reading a book means people endorse the content. I had to read Death in Venice for a class. That absolutely does not make me a pedo supporter. Other OP is wildly out of touch and terrifyingly victim blamey. When we start blaming books for people’s actions, we absolve people of their actions and are asking for censorship.

The first OP was hated the author which fine but like I agree just because you read a book doesn’t mean you support rape. I feel like other OP was trying to spread awareness rather than victim blaming though. Both seem misguided in a way.

I am not exaggerating when I say that the OP of the quoted post has actively said HA readers support rapists and want to be raped. That is not simply misguided. That is disgusting and blaming fiction for real humans’ actions when men are raping women without needing a book excuse. Coho didn’t invent grooming either. And people who enjoy either series should be able to read fiction without being cast as shitty people.
