I own all seven books but 1. I was gifted the books by my mother (she bought them as they came out) 2. I’m not buying anymore of the books Frankly the only thing from the franchise I would ever want is the butterbeer and there’s free recipes for that online so she’s not getting anymore money outta me.

Like #1 said, I own the books. I’ve had them since I was much younger before JKR revealed how hateful she was. the books and movies made me feel happy and I love the escapism it still provides. I have merch in my room still. I haven’t bought anything Harry Potter in years, and probably never will again (and also won’t watch the HBO series), and tbh I don’t like most of what I see in the HP fandom so I keep interactions to a minimum.

it’s still something I can bond with one of my closest friends about, the series brought us close together and it’s still something we can share with each other. do we both hate JKR? yes. said friend is trans. but it’s something we still hold close to our hearts, we can hate JKR and make fun of her together while still enjoying the world she made. And we’ve both moved on to other fandoms… so it’s not a big thing for us anymore. but it’s still there. she won’t get any of my money
