MAYBE it’s the fact that tanning is rooted in trying to emulate POC while simultaneously discriminating against them. Tanning was done to look like you worked outside and labored intensively. And which community was forced outside to work all day??

Your skin reacting naturally to the sun is WAYYY different than the going out of your way to get darker skin

Didn’t tanning become a trend because Coco Chanel came back from vacation with a tan? Al’s prior to that the beauty standard was to be as pale as possible to show you don’t have to work for your wealth.

Yes and then the attitude shifted to show that you were hard working. And I’m asking which group of people was forced to work in the sun for generations? The features were desired for pathetic purposes while still holding the benefits from being perceived as white. And let’s not forget Coco Chanel worked with the Nazis in Vichy France AND took advantage of anti-Jewish legislation to kick business partners out of her company

…again, because it was started from Coco Chanel coming back from vacation, it was not a matter of looking for parking, but rather enough to be able to play in the sun all day I believe. Skin tone European cultures tends to be linked to wealth, not appearing as another race.
