Black people aren’t the gatekeepers of culture. Hispanic, Asian, and white cultures also shape what America is today TOO. There are places with little to no Black culture that are doing just fine. Saying otherwise feels really harmful and dismissive. We all borrow from one another. We ALL contribute to America.
Recognizing Black culture’s impact isn’t dismissing others 😒 it’s about giving credit where it’s due. From jazz, blues, and hip hop to slang, fashion, and dance, Black creativity has shaped America’s identity. Much of it was created under oppression, yet it still became the blueprint others have stolen and profited from cause… “borrow” nahh. That history matters.
What about Spanish, Italian, Irish? They’re beige? Like I agree acknowledging black culture has had a huge impact is not inherently putting down other cultures. It’s where you call everyone else beige, boring, where you bring down other cultures. Like yes America wouldn’t be as rich in culture if black people had no influence. I just don’t get why people have to get so nasty about it. Like they want to cause arguments…
