Lemmie explains something to you. A car can be lethal, right? It’s a two-ton killing machine, or it can be just a mode of transportation. It depends on the responsibility of the individual. It’s how YOU use it. You are in control, others are in control. Yes, I believe we should have stricter laws, but laws and bans only get you so far. Laws and bans restrict the LEGAL sale and commerce of guns, not the illegal sale and commerce of guns. You can do anything illegally. -A criminal justice major.
Also, I learned to shoot at 15 in the backwoods of South Carolina with 8 other teenagers, three adults, and a dog. We all learned gun safety and the three weapons were handled responsibly. Nobody got hurt. It’s not the weapon, it’s the user. It is a CHOICE to harm someone. I will say, it is also far too easy to obtain a gun. If the gun is sitting on a table, it’s not dangerous. It becomes dangerous when someone either A) chooses to be irresponsible, B) isn’t educated on weapon safety, or C) both
well yeah but dude there are things regarding gun policy that aren’t illegal that SHOULD be illegal. most gun crimes are committed from guns obtained legally and at the end of the day laws can reduce accessibility and while yeah there are still ways to get guns reduced accessibility directly impacts likelihood of gun deaths
I don’t think you get what I’m saying. I’m FOR restricting the sale of guns further. I think people should have to go through background checks and mental health testing. Maybe even drug testing. I’m not for banning them though. I still believe in my second amendment and I need to be able to protect myself.
but then if you’re only advocating against banning them that doesn’t really respond to the original question because the original question was why aren’t people trying harder to keep guns out of the hands of crazy people which would include laws and restrictions. so the question is why aren’t people more in favor of more gun restrictions and regulations
