Get the landlord/manager involved as well! And any animal protective services near you.

Emotional support animals do not have the same status as service animals, and their status as an ESA does not mean they suddenly can’t be neglected.

just cause it’s an emotional support animal doesn’t mean you can completely neglect the ANIMALS needs as well. how tf is it gonna be supporting anyone emotionally if it’s not well? pls think.

Hey, if you abuse or neglect an animal, I don’t care if it’s an emotional support animal you don’t have a right to have it.

Same with the service dog if you had a service dog and you were just abusing it or neglecting it like starving it or refusing to bathe that you don’t get to have it I don’t care what your disability is

I assume you don’t have an ESA bcos if you did, you’d know that the reason why they work is **because** you take care of them. Loving your pet and taking care of them is the only thing that gets you out of bed. Abusing/neglecting an animal violates ESA guidelines and would actively worsen a patient’s mental health. Any good psychiatrist would redact the prescription.

u sound like an entitled prick. if you choose to sign a lease with someone else, you need to be considerate of your living space cause yall are sharing. you do not have higher priority than your roommate just because you’re mentally ill

And with a smell of ROT for any common household animal is a sign of something really wrong. If it smells like fecal matter and urine all the time (instead of when cleaning a litter box or pad for a younger/disabled animal), that’s an issue and a risk. Not just for shared living spaces but for the health of the animal AND those living in that space.

You really just used mental health as an excuse to abuse another living creature

yeah honestly nvm the inconvenience, their dog obviously needs medical help and it doesn’t seem like the roommate cares

learn to put 2 and 2 together, that’s embarrassing if you’re in college and your reading comprehension is that low. even if the issue was just that the roommate wasn’t cleaning her dog, that’s still neglect. that girl’s mental illness or emotional support needs are NOT above the wellbeing of the dog under any circumstance, and it’s so self centered and entitled to think otherwise. literally hate ppl that are all “me me me”, especially when its at others’ expense

i never said any of that. you’re just making things up to make yourself mad at this point. i suggest you go see a therapist for all that repressed anger you have. or a job.

girl then it’s giving you commented without even reading the post. cause like the context is that the dog stinks and then you told op to move out if they had a problem. all i did was point out that you must not be putting things together since it’s literally neglect, either that or you have a self centered mindset
