That is so stupid. I literally go to the same male gyno as my mom because she’s gone to him for years and we both trust him. He’s an AMAZING doctor and would never do this. The amount of horror stories about male doctors I’ve heard is ridiculous. 😔😔
“It’s just your period.” What my MALE doctor told me when I reported to the ER with excruciating pain below the belly button. Turns out I have an ovarian cyst and need surgery. I hate it here.

Something similar happened to me with a female doctor. It’s not so much the gender of the provider but the gender of the patient

Ok I am telling you that something like this (different condition) happened to me with a female doctor. I was told it must be cramps or if not cramps then an STD. It was not! I have also had legitimate breathing problems diagnosed as anxiety again by a female doctor. Both of these things happened because of MY gender

It is the gender tho. Women are more likely to die in surgery if the doctor is a man

You responded to me sharing my experience of the gender of the doctor not mattering to tell me that it does. I did not have a better experience because I was being treated by a woman. Sometimes it happens like that.

It sucks when a male doctor doesn’t listen about specific female health issues but for me it is more disappointing when someone with those same body parts ignores me

in your specific situation it didn’t matter, bc you’re right. the gender of the patient does determine what care they get, and women usually aren’t believed. but just bc the gender of the doctor didn’t have a difference in the outcome for YOU doesn’t mean that’s true all the time or even most of the time
