Hot Take: If you truly cared about having platonic friends, there would be 0 focus on gender in the first place. When you assign "male friends" vs "female friends", you're already a step behind where you need to be for being friends with men as a woman.
Not really. She is recognizing that she doesn’t have guy friends because of a specific issue and wishes that weren’t the case. It’s not really problematic to recognize that their sexuality and gender are a factor in why the relationships are failing.

I disagree with this. Male friends and female friends are both awesome for similar and different reasons, and it’s understandable that she wants a male friend. I relate to her struggle

If I’m trying to form friendships with everyone but look at all my friends and notice it only works out with women, it makes sense to be like “I wish my friendships with men would work out and that I could be friends with them” which is how I’m understanding OP
