Those countries are actively oppressive. Yet they don’t have to refute their heritage. They’re allowed to be patriotic. They’re allowed to celebrate their culture. They’re allowed to be in the public. Yet Israelis/Jews aren’t??
Why is it that Jews/israelis are expected to refute support for Israel in order to be humanized? Other countries have oppressive govs like Iran, Afghanistan, China, Russia, etc. but ppl from those countries are allowed to support their country/culture.

I can’t speak for the other countries but there is a lot of backlash against Russians celebrating their culture these days even when not really being patriotic. Like, even ethnic Russians who are actively opposed to and critical of the government ended up facing a lot of backlash and poor treatment after Russia invaded Ukraine

I feel as though it’s large scale. If Israelis post on social media they’re attacked, musicians performing, actors performing, foods in stores, trips to Israel, etc get huge backlash. I’ve not seen that towards anyone else

I saw that with Russia after the Ukraine war started, but I feel like Russians kinda kept their heads down so we didn’t see it as often, I think it’s died down a bit now but a lot of people still have weird reactions to Russians
