See I’ve actually done a lot of schooling on this topic and I have complicated feelings on it
And if I said you can’t be a feminist if you support the porn industry 👀 👀?!

Because on one hand i support being sexually liberated and owning your sexuality and i support peoples choice with their bodies

The industry is notorious for not respecting bodily autonomy and for abusing the actors and actresses and performers

Even in a more modern world like of where each person is their own brand and they are in control of that brand (for the most part) that is definitely something that I feel is their right and prerogative but it also creates a market in which others can be trafficked into or made to do

its possible to support porn while being against the industry. ethical porn exists.

Yes but that ethical porn still feeds the industry and still creates a market with the potential to exploit and abuse workers

Congrats! You’ve discovered anticapitalism! Just apply this mindset to every other industry, and you’ll quickly discover that it’s all like this! Sometimes less sexual, but shockingly, not always!

it’s hard to be ethical under patriarchy and capitalism 🤷‍♀️

There’s a difference between owning your sexual liberation and monetizing it. There are definitely small creators that fall under ethical porn consumption but in a boarder sense selling your body for money, especially women, just reinforces that sex and women is something that can be bought. There are women in worse conditions all over the world who don’t have a choice whether to do SW or not, so we should be criticizing why so many women who can afford to live life without SW STILL choose it

Your statement is, in effect, “sex work is inherently unethical unless it is your only option,” and I really cannot stress enough how this is just prejudice against sex workers.

ethical porn still exists under patriarchy & capitalism but it’s hard to find & most people turn to places like pornhub bc they don’t want to pay to watch ethically made porn.

sex work isn’t something that can be done ONLY if you’re at an absolute rock bottom financially. there are plenty of reasons one might choose to go into that profession. monetization IS part of sexual liberation bc wouldn’t you want to be paid for the work you do? sex work isn’t inherently a bad thing.

i find it interesting that your argument if blaming women for misogynistic views on sex work but you reply to my own comment was “ethical porn is impossible under patriarchy”. aren’t you just parroting a patriarchy talking point?
