I while we’re at it, if you use the “clock it” hand gesture (which is supposed to be with the middle finger and thumb) yet still say homophobic shit, your an asshole picks from cultures while demeaning the very people of it.
being a girl doesn’t make you gay and it kinda pisses me off when cishet women try to lay some sort of claim to queer culture. you are a visitor here, pay respects to the queer (and often poc) people who actually create and maintain queer culture

big reason i made the post is so many straight white women will use language, fashion, etc of queer people and people of color and assume it’s like “for the girls and the gays” regardless of if they’re actually down with the gays beyond just “omg i would love a gay best friend/oh i wish i could be a lesbian” and completely erasing people of color from the picture entirely

because poc and black culture have contributed massively to what we think of as queer culture and ignoring that is a big problem in white queer circles and a HUGE problem with cishet white women who are adjacent to queer circles
