it’s just such a non-issue. i don’t think the archetype of “person who pretends to like art films and not like famous filmbro movies” is a common enough occurrence for that to be the case. these memes always read to me as people pretending anyone who likes a movie they’ve never heard of fits that archetype. also, the descriptions of the movies in these memes always feel derogatory. they always mock the movies for being foreign or old or long or artsy or politically charged or anything.

i’m sorry this was so long lol. i just think it’s very clear these memes are made by people who deliberately don’t watch art films unless they can get some sort of social clout out of it.
