the way you can always tell when someone is faking it too because they never try and actually seek a diagnosis or seek help snd would much rather stick to their online tests and quizzes because everywhere else is “lying”
the internet has used autism/adhd as a way to trivialize normal behaviors that everyone does. like sometimes people just do shit not everything is a diagnosis

I don’t know why this is getting downvoted, there’s a huge difference between someone who’s checked their symptoms against the online DSM-5 and just can’t afford the official diagnosis and someone who thinks a Buzzfeed quiz is all it takes to be “self-diagnosed”.

I think that’s because there are legitimate reasons why some (real) autistic people never seek diagnosis

I do acknowledge that, but there are also people who fake it, typically online, for clout or to be “quirky”.

Yes, but the OP was likely being downvoted because they said “you can always tell when someone is faking it too because they never try and actually seek a diagnosis or seek help”

Yeah it’s not great wording, but the people who do fake because they do never go and try to use the very real issues surrounding getting one as an excuse. It would’ve been better to point out that fakers typically overreact when asked why they don’t have a diagnosis, treated the question as an attack and shaming the person for asking in the first place.
