While yes the NFL should work to have better technology, football however is going to be much harder to track the ball than tennis and to those saying the league should put chips in the ball, that distorts the shape of the ball and does affect how it’s carried, kicked, snapped, thrown etc.

Chips being placed in footballs already exist, actually since 2017. It’s how Next-Gen stats gets their data. What I’m talking about is the cameras for Hawk-Eye that the NFL is finally using

Hmm thought I read somewhere that they stopped putting the chips in bc of players complaining about distorted footballs Anyways Hawkeye tech is going to be harder to implement for plays where there’s a pileup and not a clear shot of the football compared to tennis where it’s a very open court and little to no unclear shots of the ball

We’ll have to see how it goes this season. Regardless a massive improvement over what we once had and a step in the right direction 🤷‍♂️
