i mean, it’s not a problem for the people that have been enslaved making bricks or buliding in dubai, not a problem for the palestinians who are being killed for living, not a problem to the murdered in sudan. it is a problem for people living in capitalist countries who put corporations over citizens, that have to depend on jobs that may not be around in 5 years just so their boss can keep more money.
The same way wars take up excess resources and such. Just bc resources get used in one country doesn’t mean someone doesn’t see an opportunity to take advantage of people who don’t know better (in reference to data centers). I’m not anti-AI, but I am anti putting data centers all over the place to fuck everything up. You get the idea. Earth only has so many resources available for us and when we alr use up our yearly allotted amount 5mo before the end of the year…
AI doesn’t just pop out of the ground. The materials needed to develop, train, and maintain AI come from all across the world, including some extremely exploitative markets. For example, in Malaysia which exports computer chips, migrants work in slavery like conditions. Another example, in Kenya, workers had to train AI by watching horribly violent and psychologically damaging videos, so they could teach AI to recognize them.
