I can’t say for sure if American Eagle did it on purpose: but it sends a message. Just like when Urban Outfitters sold a blood-splattered Kent State sweater. But it sure as fuck comes across as intentional to viewers with enough cultural knowledge and pattern recognition.

(Also: we lost the chance to not have Trump in office for the rest of our lives last November. We are an authoritarian state now, we’re just going to become more and more so as time goes on.
