Reality is the death penalty means wrongly convicted people WILL be killed (not might, will) and there’s no takebacksies on that. Supporting the death penalty means you prioritize inflicting suffering on those you think deserve it over preventing the deaths of innocent people. Full stop.
Getting convictions wrong is a completely separate issue that improves every year with advances in forensic investigation. The first use of DNA in court was literally in 1989 and you can’t even leave your house anymore without being recorded by security cameras. Your argument gets more and more outdated. And “full stop” after using a strawman just makes you look really really bad. Like, that’s almost satirical.
Not a strawman to point out error will always exist. The system will never be perfect. Wrongful convictions happen in the thousands to this day and human error will always be a factor. If you believe in the death penalty you need to accept the fact that innocent people have and will continue to die over it, and continuing to support it means that you think getting to kill a people you think deserve it is worth killing a certain number of innocent people.
