mixed feelings about this. on the one hand yeah fuck those guys but on the other I don't think the state should have the power to kill in any capacity

Don’t kill them. Lock them in solitary for the rest of their lives. Dont let them see the light of day or have the privilege of interacting with another person ever again. Drive them mad.

Death penalty has proven to not work. It only makes the criminal more likely to kill the victim so they cant tell or threaten them even further to keep quiet, especially in a power imbalance like a family member, close friend, work senior

You’re not the bad guy just because people are idealistic and don’t have the stomach to address reality.

Reality is the death penalty means wrongly convicted people WILL be killed (not might, will) and there’s no takebacksies on that. Supporting the death penalty means you prioritize inflicting suffering on those you think deserve it over preventing the deaths of innocent people. Full stop.

Getting convictions wrong is a completely separate issue that improves every year with advances in forensic investigation. The first use of DNA in court was literally in 1989 and you can’t even leave your house anymore without being recorded by security cameras. Your argument gets more and more outdated. And “full stop” after using a strawman just makes you look really really bad. Like, that’s almost satirical.

Not a strawman to point out error will always exist. The system will never be perfect. Wrongful convictions happen in the thousands to this day and human error will always be a factor. If you believe in the death penalty you need to accept the fact that innocent people have and will continue to die over it, and continuing to support it means that you think getting to kill a people you think deserve it is worth killing a certain number of innocent people.

Error existing isn’t the strawman you used. The fact that you don’t even know how to identify a strawman means I’m wasting my time.
