What this is describing is fetishization, and what the original OP was describing is misgendering. Both are forms of transphobia. The men made the femboy craze, not the femboys. I think this is worded a little odd.
This is valid but I’ve had the opposite problem where men who are attracted to me call me a femboy or want me to be more feminine. I’m not fem and I dislike the way the whole femboy craze emboldens men to speak to me this way.

“I dislike the way the femboys embolden men to talk to me” sounds like you are blaming it on feminine trans men rather than cis white men who usually have problems with fetishizing any minority community they come across.

Femboy craze online which is perpetuated by cis hetero men not femboys i love feminine guys, I date them and they are some of my best friends. I’m not trying to hate on femboys just wanted to post about a related experience.

Also the whole term femboys gives me the ick sometimes because I feel like straight guys use it to invalidate trans women, and nonbinary people. I love fems of all genders but I feel like the whole thing about femboys online just feels like an evolution of the are traps gay 2016 bullshit and calling people femboys instead of anything else is just a way to distance themselves from queer identity. I don’t like the fetishized image of queer identity that we all have to engage with.

You’re so right. The term femboy itself is infantilizing. It’s very easy to just be feminine man without being a “femboy”. It’s barely a “subculture” or an aesthetic and at the end of the day you cannot use the word femboy without gross or fetishy connotations. And before anyone says anything to me, it is not pornbrained to say so. It is simply reality

Omg okay thank you for clearing that up! I’ve seen people online do the whole blaming the community for the bigots thing and misinterpreted your statement. This is a good discussion and I don’t delete stuff just because I’m wrong but if you would like me to delete my post so that it doesn’t look that way let me know!

I agree with you to a certain amount but I feel like we should let people self-identify how they like to be identified as I feel like it’s fetishizers that have ruined the term rather than people who call themselves that themselves.

I would agree with you in any other situation but the term was ruined from the start. Like I said it’s possible to be a feminine man without being a femboy
