Enacting a death penalty for sexual assault is likely to decrease reports of SA, but not decrease SA itself. Reporting SA is already a difficult decision, and the knowledge that you are sentencing someone to death by doing so doesn’t help
Stop behaving whorishly (men and women), ban pre marital sex, ban drugs and alcohol, ban pornogrpahic material. Enforce a death penalty for rape, & other corporal punishment for other forms of SA I guarantee you SA will drop like house of cards instantly

I feel like enacting death penalty for rapists would decrease the amount of people actually reporting it

If I knew my rapist would be killed for reporting it I would report it a thousand times over

I think capital punishment should be an option for serial rapists but yeah otherwise I agree

At the end of the day you choose the society you want to live in, this society has tricked us to view not killing rapists as compassionate, in fact it is not compassionate at all, the rapist will just go and rape again if not dealt with absolutely. Society can be socialized to view reporting rapists for their heinous crime of rape as righteous, and their subsequent rapes as righteous. The question is: how much do you hate rape, and what are you willing to do to stop it?

How do you suggest we socialize people into that?

Read through my comments on the post and associated posts. The law does not inculcate morality, it gives directionality and shape to it. TLDR: Killing rapists sets a precedent of fear and ostracism for rapists that does not exist in this society, removing substances and pre marital sex from the equation makes most cases of it far easier to judge. Subsequent generations build out a much easier to evaluate and discourage culture against rape as a result. Most rapes go unreported bc they aren’t

Taken seriously by the establishment because of these “blurring factors” and general corruption alongside minimal sentencing that makes the social broadcasting of saying you were raped not even worth it. Having a competent state that actually brings down justice removes this as a consideration

100% because a lot of people are raped by someone they know and trusted (family member, partner, close friend). So knowing that reporting said person could lead to their death would actually discourage them, whereas something such as a prison sentence would not to nearly the same degree

Are you sure? Ask other victims. You will find my anger in the eyes of others, we are the same.

I have, and none of the victims in my life have reported their rapists or abusers, either because they’re scared of how the scrutiny will be traumatizing, or because they don’t know how to handle the system, or because they don’t think anyone will believe them, or because they didn’t think it was that bad, or because they’re scared of ruining the other person’s life. There are already so many reasons that make reporting a difficult choice, and we shouldn’t add another.
