I don’t think people fully grasp the issue of the “Americans read at 8th grade level” stat. This means average Americans can’t understand bias, identify manipulation, understand how perspectives change information, or ID their own internal thought models

Sort of. They think the issue is policies put in place by the department of education led to this stagnation and reduction in education success (not entirely wrong), and because of that the department of ed should be abolished and other methods of supporting schools and local governments closer to the problems would be better equipped to handle the individual problems leading to poor education success. The issue with their method is they have no plan on how to support those local govs

Believe me I agree the idea is very unwise, but when you break down their thought process and why they believe what they’re doing is a good idea, you can see they’re basing it off wanting to help. But they’re politicians at the end of the day so they still lack the follow through portion and it’ll end in tragedy bc all politicians are greedy and/or idiots (yes, all).
