i fully believe religious (pro life) people see birth as a punishment for having sex, especially premarital sex now. every time - "dont have sex, you could have a baby" to "you had sex, but abortion is murder so you cant do that"
Hot take: You shouldn’t have sex if you’re not prepared for a child

The Catholic church opposed efforts to spread condoms in Africa to combat AIDS because they saw it as “encouraging sin”

Purity culture was literally invented as a form of birth control, so it makes perfect sense why babies would be the ‘punishment’ for sex outside of procreation. I’d argue ut even made sense back then, given the birth control alternative was uh MERCURY, but it’s a toxic mindset, especially now that there’s plenty of ways to prevent pregnancy

It’s only ever been about control for pro-birthers.

which is CRAZY like forced childbirth is just torture and then youre subjecting the child which you claim to love and care for to a life that absolutely is not so

well if you dont see it as a societal/supernatural/divine punishment, then you have to see it as torture. forcing someone to go through one of the most painful things a person can experience (behind few things, like getting burned alive), is torture. and then the child suffers.

I feel like this kinda even applies to society in general with children tbh

I don’t see it as torture either? Why do you assume things, when you can just ask?

You know, having any child can be great joy, it’s also a huge responsibility if you value the life that has been brought forth. It’s hard, and it’s difficult, but like life it comes with surprises, things you’ll remember fondly in old age. I personally don’t have any. Sex doesn’t have to lead to childbirth unless you go completely raw, and typically you choose that when you feel you’re ready. People are cautious because protection and anti-birth isn’t 100% even if you do everything right.
