From companies. That shouldn’t be allowed. This isn’t his fucking house.

Companies have no right to get to make federal decisions because they have the money to do so. SNAP is about to expire next month if the government doesn’t open and all these companies care about are pushing agendas and it is negligible if the American people to allow people behind a corporation to run the workings of our government. That has never been okay or a status quo and should not be treated as such.

the only reason to get all mad over this is if it were taxpayer funded which it was under Obama and many other presidents who did renovations in the White House. you and I aren’t paying for this

They’re not making federal decisions they just made a donation…

I don’t care. It’s not their decision to make. Obama put white lines on an unused tennis court ffs. Its principle as much as historical destruction with no counseling on the matter. IT. IS. NOT. HIS. PERMANENT. RESIDENCY. HE HAS NO RIGHT TO NOT GET PERMISSION

Yes but that doesn’t make it anymore okay. Again. Not his house. He didn’t buy it. Stop treating it like his palace that he gets full command over because some billionaire gives into his ideology. That’s not morally or federally right.

which cost 376 million for obama to do, and the president is just adding a ballroom. it is definitely a companies decision to donate. This is a nonissue

are you under the impression he’s like destroying the east wing or something? He’s just adding to it, all presidents have made renovations to the White House. They do live there so

Just a ballroom???? IT IS SET TO BE BIGGER THAN THE OTHER TWO WINGS COMBINED. And shut up with that tacking onto the wing. No. Look at the photos that are literally up right now of what it looks like. Like is your head in the sand? People are dying and no one is negotiating and Trump is going to china instead of giving a damn about the shutdown. I could go on

Again as I said it’s also partly principle we have many way bigger issues in this country and a god damn ballroom won’t fix it.

They are open bribes. Trump wants a ballroom. Trump realizes that an easy way to get that money is to get donations from multibillion dollar companies. Those multibillion dollar companies realize that, if they donate to him, they’ll receive preferential treatment. Why else would companies donate millions of dollars?

why would it be bad for companies to benefit if they put money into it

Didn’t answer my question at all. Try again. Why else would companies put millions of dollars into a ballroom Trump wants?

To benefit, why is that bad for companies to benefit if they put money into it?

Anonymous replying to -> #1 6d

Because it’s open bribes to the president. Like it’s openly a direct line into his pocketbook in order to gain his favorable opinion. And I think it’s bad for a President to be taking those bribes because it creates a conflict of interest

Ok so are you trying to say that it is ok for the President of the United States to take money from private businesses because the White House is a business to be invested into?

Didn’t we already establish that when you invest into something or do business it’s to further your own business

It is, by getting something out of it. That’s how it furthers your business. So what are they getting out of it?

im not sure what every single of the 100 companies are each getting out of their donations, do you? Like why do you think it’s corrupt to do business with the president/donate to renovations of the White House

No you fucking moron, what happens if they want to buy out a company but need the government’s permission to merge with them? You don’t think having a donation to the Republican Party might sway opinions just a little bit?

Well considering Lockheed Martin already have government contracts I’d imagine a donation helps keep them in the good graces of the government for at least the remainder of the administration
