This isn’t how laws work you don’t pass a law based on the reasonableness of the policy, you pass laws based on their popular support and how that manifest itself in our institutions. That’s what you look to see if it’s a big ask or not.
Dems: the progressives are asking for too much What the progressives are asking for: “Can we maybe not back a genocide” “Healthcare without being bankrupt would be nice” “Maybe don’t turn on trans people at the drop of a hat” “Public transport please?”

Except that progressive policies do have broad popular support, they just don’t have the support of the corporations that back both parties

It depends on what policy you’re talking about universal healthcare support changes based on how you ask the question.

Yeah if you ask it in the fearmongering language that both “sides” do, but if you state what it actually is honestly then people like it. Funny how that works.

Even on top of this there’s different types of universal healthcare systems what will it look like? what specific model do people want? Maybe a majority want it but bc of a conservative bias that we have in congress (mainly bc of the senate) will it play out that way? This is a nuanced topic the idea that Biden can get universal healthcare but he just doesn’t want to (despite fdr and lbj not being able to do it) is silly.

Okay I haven’t had time to read it yet but it seems like this article sort of directly contradicts you

How does it contradict me if the polling shows different results based on the question? that was my specific claim.

Ok you realize my claim wasn't zero polls reflect that people want universal healthcare. Maybe you have selective reading, my claim was support for universal care changes based on how you ask the question.

Okay do you have any arguments other than “no actually a better world is not possible”?

I like how you just put into quotations a statement I’ve never said nor will I ever say bc you were wrong about polling. No I just don’t like how there’s this group of not very politically literate but very confident progressive people online who should be 100% for dems but they aren’t bc they believe that there’s all these popular policies that dems aren’t doing just bc. That’s frustrating.

I think it shoots in the foot any real progressive policy in this country, bc why be politically active if the dems don’t gaf?

First off, no one should be 100% for ANY political party, that would be deeply sad. Second, I, as a progressive, find it deeply enraging when the democrats hit the line of “you’re too insignificant to make policy toward but it’s also your fault if we lose”. Third, you have not proven that at all, one poll says that most people want universal healthcare (the think I was in favor of).

Be politically active if the dems don’t give a fuck (they don’t) because politics is everything around us and being apathetic is stupid and pointless.

Yeah I’m being obviously hyperbolic lol. I’m glad you have an imaginary democrat in your head that makes both of those arguments. No that’s not just what it says you didn’t even read what I sent you. Yours says “57% majority of U.S. adults believe the federal government should ensure all Americans “ in the same article there’s a contradicting poll saying “they prefer that the nation’s health care system be based on private insurance rather than run by the government… 53% of U.S. adults prefer a-

So you want to provide national universal healthcare by not using an established political party but by running in your local elections? Do you see how you’re being counter productive to any real political change?
