The only real argument against this is “Won’t it encourage employment in that area?” And my response to that is, OnlyFans exists (which is a much smaller barrier of entry into the XXX world) and those who do prostitution do it out of necessity not a want.
Genuinely don’t understand why we don’t legalize or at least decriminalize prostitution.

Exactly. It’s not a solid argument. It’s just rooted in bias and “morals”

That’s like justifying selling drugs. Just because it’s a necessity it’s okay I guess?

So you want OnlyFans and all porn to be banned too? There is always going to be customers and supplies in sex work, legal or not. Why not protect the workers?

I mean decriminalize drug use yeah. But there’s no inherent danger with sex unlike drugs

And there will always be customers and supplies in drug dealing too. So should we also protect them? Prostitution and pornography are much different things.

Completely false.

Drug use is different than drug dealing. Buying a prostitute would be equivalent to the user and being the prostitute would be equivalent to the dealer. Not what I’m saying.

Drugs ruin lives, safe sex doesn’t. Human trafficking would go down in sex work if legalized. Along with regulations being put in place to make it safer, it literally would only see benefits.

I just don’t see any regulation that could guarantee safe sex considering how the legalization would exploit young women willing to do more for the dollar. Can’t see how it could be realistically regulated.

Sex, safe or not, can easily ruin lives

I don’t see this conversation going anywhere, but for the sake of just understand you, what do you think about OnlyFans, porn, alcohol, and gambling, these are all things that can and do ruin people’s lives and they are legal and exist with many regulations?

And I don’t believe they should exist so freely at all. Legalizing prostitution would just be another source of capital gain with the sacrifice and downfall of the people.

The legalization of all of those have normalized their destructive effects. Doesn’t mean we should normalize another.

Understood. I’ll just leave off for the sake of not being misunderstood that I’m just all for harm reduction and I see that legalization with heavy regulations would do more than the system we have currently. I completely respect your opinion I think it really starts to become a question on personal freedoms and harm reduction because we have seen the effects of prohibition for example.

I understand where you’re coming from but just have a disagreement in the overall spectrum of harm reduction. I believe the legalization of it would ultimately create more potential for harm and abuse of the system as a whole.

And even without considering rapes or murders, I firmly believe that the majority of prostitution causes so much harm and trauma that growing the field through legalization would be incredibly immoral.

Also interesting to see that Nevada (a state that has legalized prostitution in parts of the state) has the highest human trafficking rates in the country

That is very interesting, all I know is that prostitution isn’t legal in Las Vegas specifically so that is surprising

I know I can’t change your mind fully but knowing that Nevada is the only state where prostitution is legal and “ 58.48 out of every 100,000 people” are trafficked there is pretty significant to the idea of legalizing prostitution in the US

OnlyFans should be banned. How are you defending a site that is predatory towards young women and has been used to facilitate trafficking. No human should have to sell their soul/body to work. It’s inhumane and shows a lack of respect towards our fellow humans

I hate to break it to you, but being pro-OnlyFans to act like your pro women and sex work ain’t the gotcha it is. You’re defending a site created by a billionaire to objectify women and traffic them. So instead of sounding like a progressive…..ya sound like a creep that shouldn’t be within 50 ft of a playground
