Someone IN Austin here, the waters rose 26ft in 45 MINUTES. There was absolutely NO warning that could have been issued here, and we’ve been under flash flooding warnings for days. Trump has nothing to do with this. All proper warnings were there
BTW people could’ve been warned abt this flood if Trump + Musk hadn’t defunded the national weather service. The almost seventy deaths are blood on their hands
Didn’t Noem literally say that the NWS needs an overhaul not too long ago? Like the administration is admitting they haven’t been managing it well

Texas weather services have reported being understaffed due to funding issues. That plays a massive role here going forward.

They were not. The main issue is rooted in the defunding of the national weather service, who, if fully staffed and operational, would have done a hell if a lot more than someone POSSIBLY seeing an alert on their weather app

another person in austin adding on, damn near every time it rains we get a flash flood warning (bc we r perpetually in a drought) and no one ever takes them seriously

although ultimately i blame the state government bc weve been having flash floods and other other increasingly "once in 100 years" extreme weather events and theyve done nothing
