This right here! But white people want to see us be oppressed and poor
I disagree with reparations in what I consider to be the “typical” sense. I think reparations would be more effective if they were focused on programming in impoverished communities with higher populations of black people.

I mean a program like that would be actually illegal, you can’t base the requirements for a federal program based on race, the Biden admin got sued and lost for something like this.

Yet it’s okay for white people to still hold so much more power than black people and not even have the plain fields be equal?

I’m not saying anything’s okay or not, but the program proposed in that post wouldn’t make it through the courts.

There was a program called DEI which helped so many in 1965 it was created for the fact that no white companies were hiring blacks or POC and females and that changed when DEI forced white companies to allow people of color to actually work there! And don’t give me they aren’t qualified crap because if you apply for a job you clearly have the qualifications or you wouldn’t be applying

I feel like we can create new and better programs

Any program that bases its qualifications for getting assistance via race is illegal is the point. That program, I’m assuming you’re referring to LBJs executive order, required the government to hire anyone and remove restrictions based on race.

It did not say “the government has to hire more black people”, it said “the government can’t not hire people because they are black”

You wouldn’t want programming for any impoverished people anyways

I would, I’m not even anti reparations, systemic racism has set entire community’s back. That’s just not the way to accomplish it because it would get stopped.

I disagree. Targeting areas that have been heavily impacted by historical factors such as racism and have led to poverty would be pretty easy to pass by in SCOTUS especially because a lot of these areas include cities which are economy central and creating more productive members of society would be in everyone’s best interest

Areas would be great, increased public school funding, childcare programs, job training, for every poor area in the country would be fine. My point was you can’t just make programs for one race

All races could use the resources. This is just a solution for reparations

My point was it’ll never pass unless the programs and money are opened to everyone not just one race specifically.

Wanna know why HBCUs exist it was because white colleges PWIs didn’t allow black kids to go to college there, wanna know another thing there is a such thing called African American scholarships and those are for black people only which is donated by alumni to make sure black students can go to colleges in PWIs

So programs can exist to only one race

Yeah I know, and that was made illegal before we were born. Donated by alumni is the key there, it’s not a government program. I assumed we were talking about government reparations.
