Africa had plenty of farming. Much of its exploitation was explicitly cash crop farming. That is not the predominant limiting factor to its economic development if there was a lack of colonialism. That would instead be the lack of an industrial base, dense rainforests in many regions, limited transportation networks, and the probable lack of an Industrial Revolution in the first place.
