If you want to know what a slogans mean you don’t take it literally or imply your own interpretation. If you do this you have zero reading comp. You look at what the point of the protest is.

Bucket sometimes words don’t literally mean what they say. In the case of the no kings protest it’s not a protest against all kings everywhere it’s a protest against Trump who’s made “jokes” about being a king. When we try to understand slogans we don’t literally interpret them we look at our context clues and we derive the meaning from that. You’re smart enough to understand this but you’re interest in virtue signaling and not actual substantive protest.

A slogan’s job is to communicate clearly to outsiders who lack context. If “No Kings” sounds like opposition to monarchy, that’s how most will read it. If that’s not your intent, it’s a bad slogan.

Defund the policy was an actual literal slogan that was stupid. The general public is obviously smart enough that’s why the no kings protests have been some of the largest protest in U.S. history. People aren’t stupid children stop acting like they are.
