I genuinely think the Republican Party (that I grew up with at least) died with John McCain. He was really one of the last principled Republicans who would stand up to Trump on anything. I wonder what he’d think of our country today

I think that no matter what side you are on we can agree we haven’t had good choices in 3-4 of our last elections for president.

Eh, I agree somewhat but I do think McCain had more of a spine. Romney was outspokenly against Trump but never really got in his way when he knew it could cost him politically

Yeah which I didn’t hate, it was nice to have someone in the Republican party who would openly criticize Trump. But I wish he would’ve been a bit more actionable about it. In all fairness I’m sure it was difficult since the party was basically pushing him out
