"Appealing" to them by diluting reality is a terrible method of debate. Nobody has any obligation to save anyone, so when you frame it that way, you are literally handing them the win

To actually advocate you need to say the uncomfortable part and call murder what it is: murder. It doesn't matter is some people don't believe it's murder. The whole point is to show that it is in fact murder and you can't do that when you refuse to step on their toes. Grow a spine.
