You can be a progressive and be skeptical of neo-pronouns. The extreme ones basically only existed on Tumblr. Purity testing on xe/xer pronouns will not happen on my watch. If you have them, idc. If you think it’s silly, I don’t blame you.

Pronouns are fine. If you want she he or them that’s cool I don’t care. But when you start demanding “xem” or “this one” please fuck off.

And frankly even saying stuff like “I just think it’s kinda silly” publicly tends to invite nasty and bigoted remarks so I tend to keep my thoughts on the subject to myself

Fair enough. Since the election I’ve been thinking about how the right has been able to paint the left on their terms based on edge cases. It’s worked for them. I want to show there’s room for discussion, even if it’s a tough one. ❤️

You’re right that’s why I bring up Tumblr. What’s happened is it breaks containment and then suddenly it’s a very real political talking point that midwits base their political opinions on. I don’t like that. This a small piece of the puzzle admittedly but I think it matters we discuss this post 2024.
