so the idea behind trump's tariffs was to get other countries to lower their "tariffs" on us and bring production back here. but if trump cant do those tariffs, then... whats stopping everything from reverting? if there was a meaningful change anyway

At least there was some decent reasoning behind that. We had to save the banks because there was a risk of an even bigger collapse

The gov ended up making a profit from the bank bailouts and lending programs. They roughly broke even on AIG. They lost money on the auto industry and Home Affordable Modification Program
